Heart Rate Variability PDF Print E-mail

"Throw your heart over the fence, and the rest will follow." Norman Vincent Peale

In the following picture you can see what is meant by Heart Rate Variability. Between each heartbeat there is a variation in time. The heart needs to be extremely flexible to handle all of the small and large demands continuously being placed upon it. From the slightest movement of our head, to standing up from a chair, to digesting our supper, to running to catch a bus, the heart has to be ready to meet the needs of the body’s cells for oxygen, nutrients and waste disposal. The level of the heart’s flexibility to meet all these demands is an important factor in its health.

HeartMath’s emWave® biofeedback technology works by measuring the time differences between each beat, plotting these changes on a graph, and determining if the changes in time between each beat are regular, gradual and similar (coherent) or irregular, rapid and erratic (incoherent). This science is at the heart of Creating Wave's approach for stress release.
